My Latest Work
Something about...
Tarun Achpal
With my roots in Mumbai, I have had the privilege of experiencing and interacting with various segments of society from a very early age.
My early days were spent working backstage in theatre, handling lighting and dabbling in fashion photography for upcoming designers during my college years at Manipal Bangalore and SRM Chennai. These experiences were thrilling and involved frequent travel, which added to the excitement.
My artistic pursuits have been diverse, ranging from traditional 2D animation, Claymation, Line art, perspective, photography, and of-course cinematography.
One of the valuable lessons I learned was during a classroom exercise where I spent over two hours every day painting a straight line on a piece of paper for over 150 days. This exercise not only honed my skills but also taught me the importance of observing and absorbing the frame before hitting the record button. As a cinematographer, I believe that beauty lies in the details, and it is crucial to pay attention to them.
I am a firm believer in the adage that the better the preparation during pre-production, the better the output. While there have been times when my team and I have gone against the odds and still achieved great results, I remain convinced that thorough preparation is the key to success.
